Ben is one of my more recent coaching clients. Ben currently owns 14 properties and is starting his own property management company in Sarnia (RSB Property Management).

He’s had other coaches before, in a group setting, but felt that the information provided became too general and repetitive, due to the large nature of the group coaching. So, he sought a more personalized one-on-one approach.

He has learned some hard lessons since starting his investing journey:

Pay attention to what people are saying to get the deal done.

Stop and assess how your investing journey is going once you get to about 3 properties, preparing to scale. Don’t grow too fast without a good foundation. We all know how costly a poor foundation on a house can become – the same thing goes for your real estate investments and starting a business.

Ben reached out to me as a coach because he knew that I have run my property management business for years and had systems and processes in place already that he can use in developing his business. He’s preparing to build a solid foundation and gain lots of business knowledge before officially launching his company.

Ben has found a problem in Sarnia and he’s working to fix it – Property management companies often get a bad rap there because they’re not doing what they say they will, and they’re not doing what’s best for the tenants and the owners.

Ben believes in developing strong relationships with those you work with – contractors, owners, sellers, etc. Ben is learning with every project he completes. At the end of every job, he sits down with the contractor to see what can be improved on the next job, how they can improve their communication with each other as well as ensure that systems and processes are in place as his business grows.
